MLB Home Run Picks for August 26

Andrew Vaughn (+500)
vs Diamondbacks (SP: RHP Brandon Pfaadt)

Andrew Vaughn has been an entirely different hitter since being traded to the Brewers, hitting nine homers over 39 games. He's playing great and is in a great spot today. Brandon Pfaadt has been an above-average matchup for righty power this season, allowing a 1.28 HR/9. While I don't usually give too much credence to home/road splits, they have been drastic for Pfaadt, with him allowing a tiny .35 HR/9 at home this season and 2.54 HR/9 on the road. I have the true odds on Vaughn at around +400 today, making this a great EV bet.

Julio Rodriguez (+525)
vs Padres (SP: RHP Dylan Cease)

Julio Rodriguez had some problems early in the season, but has really turned things around recently, with six homers this month and eight last month. Rodriguez gets an average matchup vs. Dylan Cease, who has allowed a 1.16 HR/9 this season, but these odds are still far too high. Temperatures in Seattle are a bit higher than usual, and I have the true odds here around +450, making this a great bet.

Spencer Torkelson (+400)
vs Tigers (SP: RHP Charlie Morton)

Spencer Torkelson has been on a heater recently, and he gets a matchup vs. a gas can — Osvaldo Bido. Bido has been terrible vs. righties this season, allowing a 1.72 HR/9 to go along with a terrible 13.1% strikeout rate and a 44.4% fly-ball rate. This ballpark is great for power, and the weather should be great for hitting, with temperatures in the mid-80s and wind blowing out at 9 mph. I have the true odds here around +325, making this a great bet.

Teoscar Hernandez (+450)
vs Reds (SP: RHP Nick Martinez)

After a tough stretch mid-season, Teoscar Hernandez has been in better form recently, with five homers in the past couple of weeks. The matchup vs. Nick Martinez is a plus for righty power. Although Martinez has allowed only a 1.16 HR/9 to righties this season, he is due for some negative regression with his 40.2% fly-ball rate. I have the true odds here just under +400, making this a good bet.
