MLB NRFI Bets, Picks | Jesus Luzardo, Robbie Ray Have Appealing Matchups

In light of the less-than-stellar starting pitchers we're witnessing on a tiny Friday evening slate, we will be crafting our own No Runs First Inning (NRFI) proposition by examining the performances of two pitchers in two different games.

This customized bet is available for creation at both DraftKings and Barstool Sportsbook.

The first pick is Jesus Luzardo in the first game of the night between the Mets and Marlins.

Luzardo boasted an impressive 15-2 NRFI record last season. He was also a perfect 7-0 at home. When facing hitters the first time through the order, Luzardo allowed a mere 27 hits in 151 at-bats, resulting in a solid .179 average.

Analyzing the Mets' lineup, Luzardo has consistently performed well against their key hitters. Pete Alonso is 2-for-11, Francisco Lindor is 2-for-8, Starling Marte is 0-for-3, and Brandon Nimmo is 2-for-5. Collectively, they hold a .222 average.

The second pick is lefty Robbie Ray in tonight's game between the Guardians and Mariners.

Last season, Ray demonstrated his reliability as an NRFI pitcher, posting a 24-8 overall record and an impressive 15-3 record to the NRFI at home. Ray's home performance was notably better than his away performance, as he registered a WHIP 0.30 points lower and a 3.02 ERA, compared to his 4.69 road ERA.

When facing Cleveland Guardian hitters, Ray has similarly maintained a strong stance. Steven Kwan is just 2-for-6, Jose Ramirez is 1-for-9, Josh Bell is 2-for-7 and Oscar Gonzalez is 1-for-6. The one batter to keep an eye on is Amed Rosario, who has gone 5-for-10 against Ray.
