Yankees vs Cubs MLB Betting Preview
The Yankees have been messing around with Will Warren's routine.
There was a rainout and a doubleheader last week that had them skip Warren's turn in the rotation as Max Fried returned, but they strangely had him throw 16 pitches out of the bullpen in one of those games. And then he made a normal start on the 26th, throwing 70 pitches and getting thumped by the Phillies (3 IP, 6 H, 6 ER).
It's gotta be tough to go through a cycle like this, but Warren's back on schedule for a start in Wrigley this afternoon. The Yankees are going to have to make a decision on someone to exit the rotation when Carlos Rodon returns.
I think that choice is clearly Will Warren. He has a 5.10 ERA in his last 55 innings, and the K% is down to 17%. He had a good start to the year, but the trouble with lefties has caught up to him, and the league has generally figured him out.
Since May 15, he's given up a .363 xwOBA overall and a .380 mark to lefties who have hit five homers off of him in about 33 innings.
The Cubs have Pete Crow-Armstrong in a great spot for this one. Warren cannot do much against lefties, and PCA is surging into the MVP discussion currently. At home, he has hit .306/.400/.570 with 12 homers on a .361 xwOBA.
With Ohtani banged up, not pitching, and not swinging the best bat, we could see PCA even the odds with him for MVP as this summer progresses. I like PCA's chances of having a big game and making his case on that front today.
The Cubs send Shota Imanagato the mound for this one. We have winds blowing across the field from right to left.
The winds are a big issue in Wrigley, but they should be about a neutral factor for this one. Imanaga has thrown 13 shutout innings in his last two starts with eight strikeouts and two walks. Since June 10th, he has a 2.00 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP.
The Yankees are now missing Judge, Stanton, and Bellinger. They have a .665 OPS in July, and it's .621 in July against lefties. There are few threats against southpaw pitching in this lineup, and being on the road doesn't help out either.

Yankees vs Cubs Pick, Betting Analysis
The Cubs seem to have every advantage for this one. Home park, better pitcher, better (current) lineup. I suppose they lose the bullpen matchup, but the bullpen only matters if you're winning.
I'm riding the Cubs for this one. I like PCA to have a big game and the Cubs to fly the W in Wrigley.
Picks: Cubs Moneyline -157, Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 1.5 H+R+SB (-173)
