The Arizona Diamondbacks host the San Francisco Giants on June 30, 2025. First pitch from Chase Field is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. EDT; the game will be broadcast on NBCS-BA.

Both teams enter this NL West clash struggling. However, with Logan Webb and Ryne Nelson getting the start, tonight's game could be a pitcher's duel, particularly early.

San Francisco Giants Betting Preview: Webb Looking to Halt the Slide

The Giants will enter this series not in a good place, having lost five of their last six games. That includes dropping a series to the lowly White Sox over the weekend in which they scored just five runs. They will head to Arizona now 1.5 games back of the Cardinals for the final NL Wild Card Spot.

However, tonight, they have the fortune of turning to ace Logan Webb to right the ship.

Webb enters this outing 7-5 with a 2.52 ERA. He has worked six innings in nine of his last 10 starts, going seven innings in six of them. He has struck out at least five batters in eight of his last 10 starts and his line tonight sits at 5.5 on most books. Webb is fifth in MLB with 120 strikeouts and 10th in ERA. Webb has dominated Arizona in his career, going 7-3 with a 2.31 ERA in 12 starts.

A little run support would not hurt him and eyes will be on the newly acquired Rafael Devers to lead the way. Since coming over from Boston, Devers has two home runs and five runs batted in, but he is hitting just .217 in 46 at-bats. However, the results may soon be coming for him. Devers ranks in the 95th percentile or better in average exit velocity, barrel rate, and hard hit percentage.

One surprise contributor of late has been second baseman Christian Koss. The 27-year-old is hitting .371 in June and enters with four consecutive multi-hit games.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview: Bullpen Remains a Concern

The Diamondbacks also played the White Sox recently. They took the series after winning the first two games, but dropped the finale and were subsequently swept by the suddenly red-hot Marlins at home. Pitching has not been a strong suit for the DBacks this season and that has shown of late as they have allowed at least six runs in each of their last four games.

Ryne Nelson will get the start tonight and he is coming off three consecutive stellar outings. He has allowed just two hits in his last two starts and two earned runs in 15 and 2/3 innings over his last three starts. Nelson has a 3.11 ERA in 37 and 2/3 innings against the Giants in his career.

Manager Torey Lovullo has not allowed him to face many lineups the third time through the order. However, that also means he is asking his struggling bullpen to get more outs.

Offensively, Ketel Marte has been swinging a hot bat with five home runs in his last nine games. He is hitting .305 with 17 home runs, 37 RBI, and a 1.005 OPS, which may earn him a start in the All-Star Game. Marte has a home run and two doubles off Webb, but Webb has won most of the battles as Marte is just 5-for-24 (.208) with eight strikeouts against him.

Arizona got Eugenio Suarez and his team-leading 25 home runs back over the weekend, but their lineup will remain a bit shorthanded. Corbin Carroll has not played since June 18 and last week was placed on the IL with a fractured left wrist. Josh Naylor left Friday's game with a neck injury and has not played since. If he remains out tonight, Arizona will be missing 97 RBI and 4.0 WAR from its lineup.

Giants vs Diamondbacks Prediction, Betting Analysis

Given the way that Webb and Nelson have been throwing, tonight's matchup could be a pitcher's duel. However, I prefer targeting the total for the first five innings as opposed to the full game because of Arizona's bullpen. There have been four runs or fewer through the first five innings in five of the Giants' last six games.

Now, they hand the ball to Webb, who has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. We can expect him to be out there for a while, which is why I will be adding his Ks to tonight's parlay along with Koss and Suarez.

Pick: F5 Under 4.5 Total Runs (-130, BetMGM)
