Alex Hinton’s Mariners vs Diamondbacks Preview
Cal Raleigh has hit at least 27 home runs in each of the past three years, going over 30 in each of the past two years. His next home run will extend that streak to four years. He enters tonight's game as the MLB leader with 26 home runs, three ahead of Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. He is also second in baseball with a 1.035 OPS.
After playing in the Mariners' first 63 games this season, Raleigh got his first off day of the season yesterday in the Mariners' series finale against the Angels. He should be back in the lineup tonight as the Mariners head to Arizona. Raleigh is 0-for-3 with a strikeout against Kelly, but the Diamondbacks right-hander has not faced him while he is on this kind of roll.
Raleigh has recorded a hit in 15 of his past 17 games. In that span, he has hit 11 home runs with three multi-home run games. That includes in his last game on Saturday, when he launched two long balls against the Angels.
Raleigh has 18 home runs and a 1.047 OPS in 155 at-bats against right-handed pitchers this season. He also has 10 home runs in the seventh inning or later. That is key because Arizona ranks 27th in bullpen ERA, so Raleigh will have one to two opportunities against Arizona's bullpen if he does not homer off Kelly, who has allowed five of eight home runs to left-handed hitters this season.
Pick: Cal Raleigh to Hit a Home Run (+300 via BetMGM)
