Rays vs Athletics Parlay, Picks
Story: Back Junior to Stay Hot at the Plate in a Rays Victory
The Athletics will host the Rays on Tuesday evening in the second of a three-game homestand at the A’s temporary Triple-A venue at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.
Below, I will break down this contest and further provide a “same-game-parlay” (SGP) betting angle that you can take when wagering on Tuesday’s American League clash.
For the first leg of our SGP for Tuesday night, I feel confident backing the Rays to win by at least two runs in a game I expect to have plenty of offense, particularly for the Tampa side.
The Rays will send 36-year-old right-hander Nick Martinez to the mound, while the A’s will trot out 25-year-old righty Mason Barnett in a pitching matchup that should heavily favor Tampa Bay.
In 22 appearances this season, Martinez has been phenomenal with an impressive 2.65 ERA, ranking 8th in all of baseball amongst starters.
Tampa’s righty has been quite efficient as well, as he enters Tuesday’s matchup with a 1.10 WHIP, which also ranks inside the top 15 for starting pitchers.
While Martinez is posting career-best metrics across the board, Barnett has struggled mightily on the bump in just his second season in the Major Leagues.
In 34 frames on the mound in 2026, the A's pitcher has recorded an abysmal 5.56 ERA along with a 1.38 WHIP throughout his 16 appearances.
The Athletics are also short-handed, with lefty slugger Nick Kurtz having just hit the shelf with a sprained thumb, so this is a spot I heavily favor the Rays given the far superior starting pitcher and lineup.
That said, I feel confident backing the Rays run line, which should provide a solid foundation for our SGP on Tuesday night.
For the second leg, I will be backing Rays superstar Junior Caminero to record at least three HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs), as I expect him to explode at the plate in this game.
Tampa’s 23-year-old has established himself as one of the premier sluggers on the planet, having smashed 33 homers this season, which ranks second in all of baseball.
He also ranks inside the top 20 in both RBIs (14th) and OPS (17th), with 71 and .931, respectively.
In addition to Junior entering this contest in spectacular form, he's set to face a struggling arm at the second-most hitter-friendly ballpark in baseball, with the A’s currently playing their home games at a minor league venue.
Caminero will have a definitive edge over Barnett given his elite hard-hit rates and remarkable isolated power versus right-handed pitching (.206+ ISO vs RHP).
Junior’s top-tier bat speed and barrel control against righties should prevail over the A’s starter, who has been very susceptible to both high-contact and exit-velocity sluggers who punish four-seam fastballs left in the zone.
In a game I expect the Rays' hitters to frequent the basepaths, I expect Caminero to soar over his 2.5 HRR mark with ease.
Rays vs. Athletics Parlay Picks
- Rays -1.5
- Junior Caminero Over 2.5 HRR
Parlay Odds: +127 (FanDuel)
