Rays vs Tigers MLB Betting Preview, Prediction

The Rays' pitching lab has turned countless pitchers into absolute gems.

Sadly for them, that magic hasn't carried over for former All-Star Freddy Peralta. In four starts with Tampa Bay, Peralta owns a 7.17 ERA with a 6.17 xERA and 5.76 FIP.

A major concern is that Peralta's K/9 is down to 6.75 in those outings — and his K/9 already dipped from his career average during his time with the Mets.

The Tigers offense should be looking their chops to face Peralta. They've been an elite offense lately, ranking fourth with a 112 wRC+ over their last 29 games.

Despite the struggles from Riley Greene and Dillon Dingler in that span, the Tigers have remained elite. Once their two All-Star bats get back on track, they'll get even scarier.

Opposing Peralta is a pitcher I feel comfortable backing in Troy Melton.

Can you expect Melton to maintain his 1.60 ERA? Doubtful, as his 3.22 xERA and 3.84 FIP point to impending regression. But Melton throws hard while generating a lot of soft contact and swings and misses.

Take the Tigers here. Peralta is close to an auto-fade in every outing, and this Tigers offense should score enough to even out some of Melton's potential regression.

Picks: Tigers ML (-116, FanDuel)
