For my Tuesday MLB player props, I'll be looking into a pair of hitters in Roman Anthony and Jose Altuve. However, we will begin in Pittsburgh, where Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers will be taking on the Pirates.

Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for the MLB games on Tuesday, September 2.

In this year's midsummer classic, Clayton Kershaw was named an All-Star for the 11th time. Some questioned the legitimacy at the time because he had thrown just 50 innings with a 3.38 ERA, but he was a legend's pick by commissioner Rob Manfred. Lately, he has shown why he is an 11-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer.

In August, Kershaw had a 1.88 ERA. He went five innings in all five of those starts and allowed two runs or fewer in four of them. Tonight, he gets the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are last in the MLB in runs scored. He has not seen much of these Pirates hitters besides fellow veterans Andrew McCutchen and Tommy Pham. Collectively, they are hitting .230 against him.

Kershaw is 5-0 at home this season and 4-2 on the road. However, his ERA on the road is much lower at 2.68 compared to 3.38 at home. Tonight, I like his chances of continuing his road dominance with either a five or six-inning start.

Guardians vs Red Sox Player Props: Anthony Hitting With Power

The Red Sox picked up a 6-4 victory yesterday over the Guardians and pulled even with the Yankees atop the AL Wild Card and 2.5 games back in the AL East. From his leadoff spot, Anthony went 2-for-5 with a run score. The 21-year-old has recorded a hit in seven of his last eight games.

Anthony is now a qualified hitter on StatCast, and it is no surprise that he ranks in the 100th percentile in hard hit percentage and 98th percentile in average exit velocity. After all, he was called up after hitting a 500-foot homer. He has tapped into that power by hitting six of his eight home runs over the last month while slashing .303/.388/.525 in that span.

Tonight, he gets Slade Cecconi, who has allowed three runs or more in six of his last eight starts. Cecconi has allowed right-handed hitters to hit .278 against him, but he has allowed 11 of his 20 home runs against left-handed hitters in addition to eight doubles and a triple. It would not surprise me if Anthony wrapped one around Pesky's Pole tonight, and he is +475 on DraftKings to leave the yard tonight.

If he does not homer, he has recorded two hits in five of his last eight games. If he does so again, he will clear two total bases for the seventh time in his previous nine games.

Yankees vs Astros Player Props: Altuve Relishing Yankees Matchup

It is no secret that there is no love lost between the Yankees and the Astros. One of the most hated players by Yankees fans is Jose Altuve, but it is something he appears to relish. In 75 regular-season games against the Yankees, Altuve is hitting .279 with 14 doubles, 15 home runs, 32 RBI, and an .819 OPS.

Two of those home runs came in the three-game series in the Bronx last month, with one of them being off Max Fried. Altuve sees Fried very well as he is 5-for-11 (.455) with a double and the aforementioned home run against him. This time, the series shifts to Houston, where he is hitting .296 with an .850 OPS this season.

Altuve has 24 home runs this season, and seven of them have come in 98 at-bats against left-handed pitchers. He is +750 on BetMGM for a home run tonight. Altuve homered yesterday, hitting his second in his last five games. In that span, he has recorded two total bases three times. He also has two hits in all three games against the Yankees this season. He is +275 on DraftKings for two hits tonight.
