Twins vs Mets MLB Betting Preview

The New York Mets have lost 11 straight games, and their fans are melting down. Tonight, they get a prime opportunity to snap that streak.

The Mets send their ace, Nolan McLean, to the mound against the Minnesota Twins and Simeon Woods Richardson. McLean has been outstanding this season and should be treated as one of the 10 best pitchers in baseball right now. He’s a legitimate Cy Young contender. The fact that the Mets are just 1-3 in his four starts this year says far more about the team’s struggles than it does about McLean.

This is a significant pitching mismatch. Woods Richardson is a former Mets prospect who has been solidly below average this season. While he can occasionally put together a decent start, he’s not on the same level as McLean.

I’m backing the Mets on the moneyline at -184 on FanDuel. They’re at home to start a series against a Twins team that they’re significantly better than on paper. Minnesota has lost four straight after a strong 11-7 start, and its bullpen imploded over the weekend. They’re scuffling at the right time for New York to break through.

I’m also on Nolan McLean Over 6.5 Strikeouts at +100. McLean has cleared this number in three of his four starts already. The Twins strike out at the 13th-highest rate in baseball, and McLean’s stuff is electric. You can also get a nice plus price around +150 if you want to include it in a small same-game parlay with the Mets ML.

The Mets have to win sometime, and tonight looks like the spot with their ace on the mound at home.

Pick: New York Mets ML | Nolan McLean Over 6.5 Strikeouts
