The United States Formula 1 Grand Prix is set to run on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. It will be the 18th race of the season and the kickoff to the Americas triple-header, raced at the Circuit of the Americas.
After the high-stakes night racing through the streets of Singapore a couple of weeks ago, the F1 circus now arrives at the bumpy, high-speed sweeps of Austin, where tire degradation becomes a nightmare, and the uphill charge into Turn 1 sets the stage for instant drama.

United States Formula 1 Grand Prix Preview
Kimi Antonelli is on the verge of becoming the youngest ever F1 World Drivers' Champion. Sitting comfortably atop the drivers' standings with 340 points—holding a massive 102-point cushion over Russell in second—the teenage sensation is turning what was supposed to be a tight championship fight into a procession.
Two weeks ago in Singapore, Antonelli once again showcased his cool head under the lights while his rivals faltered, further cementing his command over the title race. Sitting on pole position once again for Sunday's United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), the Italian phenom looks virtually unstoppable as the paddock kicks off the Americas triple-header.
He needs to win the race and have Russell finish ninth or worse, with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who is 111 points behind in the standings, finishing fifth or lower, to clinch the title.
So, how does shifting from the Singapore street circuit to the sweeping, undulating layout of the Circuit of The Americas change the equation?
COTA is a test of a car’s aerodynamic efficiency and chassis balance. From the iconic, lung-busting uphill climb into Turn 1 to the high-speed, sector-one slalom inspired by Silverstone’s Maggotts and Becketts, it demands relentless precision.
However, the track is also notoriously bumpy, and massive tire degradation means cars that burn through their rubber early will be sitting ducks down the long back straight.
That dynamic sets up a fascinating narrative for Sunday's grid. Ferrari once again struggled to deliver peak single-lap pace needed in qualifying to lock down the front row, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton lining up 4th and 5th. While their race pace could threaten if they manage tire life, starting behind the front row leaves them vulnerable to getting stuck in traffic.
Meanwhile, McLaren had a Saturday to forget; qualifying 7th with Oscar Piastri and 8th with Lando Norris seriously hurts their chances of mounting a podium challenge at a circuit where track position around Sector 1 is critical. George Russell suffered his own qualifying woes, managing only 6th fastest and leaving him stranded behind both Ferraris and the Red Bull of Isack Hadjar (3rd).
That leaves Max Verstappen starting from 2nd alongside Antonelli. With Verstappen sitting 4th in the standings on 221 points, the four-time champ has nothing to lose and will surely look for an all-or-nothing dive into the wide, hairpin opening of Turn 1, or hope an opportunistic safety car hands him the advantage.
Formula 1 Predictions: United States GP
Kimi Antonelli – Race Winner (+110, DraftKings)
It's rare for the pole sitter not to be the favorite to win the race. Yet we're going to thank Max Verstappen for this one and get Antonelli to maximize his title chances by taking the title.
I'm not quite sure he'll have the dominoes fall in the correct order to secure the crown, but I'm backing him to take the top step of the podium.
He'll be harassed by the two Red Bulls and will have to run a spotless race with Verstappen close behind, but at this point, doubt the title favorite to your own peril.
Isack Hadjar Podium Finish (+225, DraftKings)
Frenchman Isack Hadjar has gone from strength to strength this season, at times more than matching the pace of his four-time World Champion Verstappen.
Another case of the odds going up against the grid order: complaints about tire degradation might be hurting Hadjar here, but with Ferrari's struggles on Saturday and Russell having to overcome them to even have a sniff of P3, I like Hadjar to run a tidy race and keep it together.
Do bear in mind, his ideal lap on Saturday — that is, his three best sectors combined independently — made for a quicker lap than Verstappen's
Max Verstappen – Fastest Lap (+175, DraftKings)
It's slim pickings for positions 4 to 10, but I really like Verstappen to secure fastest lap. He'll harass Antonelli for most of the early stint of the race, but even if he doesn't secure the overtake and aim for the win, he's bound to race much more aggressively than Antonelli.
Simply put, there's less to lose for the Dutchman, and given the chance, he'll fly around the track if it means even the slightest chance of pushing Antonelli's coronation back one week.
