Grizzlies vs Pelicans NBA Preview
I really like what the starting five of Herb Jones, Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy, Derik Queen, and Saddiq Bey have been doing for the Pelicans as of late.
Jordan Poole seeing less minutes than he typically sees throughout the year is probably a good thing overall if you’re trying to win basketball games.
The Pelicans have been competing. They just put up 133 points and beat the Grizzlies in Memphis last week, and now they face them at home.
I don’t see any reason why they can’t replicate that same spot.
I know Ja Morant isn’t in the lineup for the Grizzlies, but I was still surprised to see New Orleans favored in this game.
This hasn’t happened much for the Pelicans — they’ve only been favored in three games so far this season. So, New Orleans laying any points terrifies me, but it does feel like they are the right side here.

I develop my own power ratings for each team, combine them, and then apply game-factor adjustments for things like back-to-backs, rest advantages, and player availability.
I make my number for each game and specifically don't look at the market line beforehand because I don’t want to be influenced.
Then, I compare my number to the market, and I’m usually pretty close.
In this case, I was off by about four points in the other direction, which is why it really surprised me.
I had the Grizzlies as 2.5-point favorites, and then I looked at the line and thought, “Am I reading this right?” The Pelicans were favored by 2.5.
So that’s my lean. I like the Pelicans at home -2.5
