Heat vs. Magic
This price is starting to tick up, but it's still in a playable range.
Tyus Jones is averaging less than 5.0 PRA per game this season.
He's played a bit better in December, although it's only resulted in 7.3 PRA per game.
The absence of Franz Wagner will open up minutes, but I'm expecting Tristan da Silva to be the one to see a bigger opportunity instead of Jones.
Jase Richardson and Jett Howard are also challenging Jones for backup guard minutes.
Pick: Tyus Jones Under 9.5 Points, Rebounds, & Assists (-135)
Heat vs. Magic
By Joe Dellera
The Magic face off against the Heat in the NBA Cup tonight, and they will be without Franz Wagner. One player I expect to see an uptick is Jalen Suggs.
Suggs has been great for Orlando this season. He has really filled in as a decent distributor for them as well, averaging 4.7 assists per game.
He just picked up five dimes against the Heat a few days ago, and Miami is a strong matchup.
Miami plays at the fastest pace in the league, and they allow the seventh-most assists per game to their opponents.
There have been very few minutes this season with Suggs on the court and Franz off, but he does see a bump in his assist rate.
When Franz is off and Paolo is on, this rate has skyrocketed in an ultra small sample size.
Orlando also ran their guys in the Cup games last season, and I could see Suggs getting even more run than usual.
Pick: Jalen Suggs Over 4.5 Assists (-115)
Knicks vs. Raptors
By Joe Dellera
The Knicks face off against the Raptors in the first elimination game of the NBA Cup tonight, and I’ll target OG Anunoby in a matchup against his former team.
OG is averaging 15.9 points per game this season, and is coming off a strong game against the Magic in which he scored 21 points.
This is a strong matchup for him as well. The Raptors are poor at defending spot up shooters, and OG is one of the best.
He’s also played well against the Raptors since he was traded to the Knicks from Toronto.
Anunoby has scored at 14, 14, 31, and 27 points in four games against the Raptors, and has taken no fewer than 11 shots in any of those games.
Pick: OG Anunoby Over 14.5 Points (-115)
Knicks vs. Raptors
The Raptors need three-point volume to keep up with the Knicks' high-powered offense, and Quickley is their trigger man.
His three-point attempt rate is well above 50%, and he's the only starter above 26.6% other than the injured RJ Barrett.
Quickley went 4-for-10 from deep against the Knicks a little over a week ago, and I think he can repeat that tonight. He has made three or more threes in four of his last six games.
I'd expect him to launch between eight and 10 attempts in this matchup against a Knicks team that is one of only two in the NBA allowing over 40 three-point attempts per 100 possessions.
