Nuggets vs Warriors Preview, SGP Picks

Denver enters the 2025 season with a chip on its shoulder after a disappointing campaign last year that led to the firing of head coach Michael Malone.

Longtime assistant David Adelman now takes over as head coach, looking to guide the Nuggets back to title contention.

The Nuggets finished 50-32 last season, good for fourth in the Western Conference.

They opened the playoffs with a five-game victory over the Los Angeles Lakers before falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.

The 2023 NBA champions were active in the offseason, adding Cameron Johnson, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas to strengthen their rotation.

Denver still revolves around three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and four-time All-Star Jamal Murray, entering the year with +600 odds to win the NBA Finals — trailing only the Oklahoma City Thunder (+245).

On the other side, Steve Kerr begins his 12th season at the helm of the Golden State Warriors, having led them to four NBA championships and six Western Conference titles.

Golden State aims to bounce back from a 48-34 record and a first-round playoff exit last season.

Stephen Curry remains the heart of this team, now joined by veteran Jimmy Butler.

The Warriors added experienced depth in the offseason, signing Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton. Golden State started the new campaign strong with a comfortable win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nuggets vs Warriors, 10 p.m. ET

I’m very high on this Nuggets team heading into the season.

While Golden State looked good in its opener, I’m not putting too much stock into a win over a shorthanded Lakers squad.

Denver should show marked improvement on the defensive end while remaining one of the NBA’s most potent offensive teams.

The Warriors will have no real answer for Nikola Jokic, who should lead Denver to a statement win in Game 1.

Cameron Johnson Over 15.5 Points

Nuggets vs Warriors, 10 p.m. ET

We’ll pair this with a prop from our Action Pro Report.

Cameron Johnson makes his regular-season debut with Denver tonight and should fit seamlessly into the Nuggets’ offense as their top perimeter shooter.

With Jokic and Murray drawing constant defensive attention, Johnson should see plenty of clean looks from beyond the arc — an ideal setup for his scoring potential.

Our Action Pro Report projects him for 17.5 points, giving strong value to the Over 15.5 Points line.

Pick: Cameron Johnson Over 15.5 Points
