Kings vs Clippers NBA Preview
The Los Angeles Clippers host the Sacramento Kings in a season opener in the nightcap of Wednesday's NBA schedule.
It's a matchup between two teams in the midst of rebuilds. The Clippers were left to pick up the pieces following the Kawhi Leonard drama, while it feels like the Kings are perpetually rebuilding at this point.
Both teams will play this game with short benches thanks to some loaded injury reports. The Kings were hit with an early blow this season when Ben Simmons tore his Achilles after a strong preseason.
For the Clippers, the big return of the Kawhi trade was Brandon Ingram, but he's sidelined for the foreseeable future with a partially torn Achilles, along with Bradley Beal.
That means Los Angeles must rely on Darius Garland, Rui Hachimura, and Derrick Jones Jr.
Kings vs Clippers Pick, Betting Analysis
Who is going to step up for the Clippers now that the Kawhi era is in the rearview mirror? Garland and Hachimura are expected to have the highest usage rates, but L.A. is going to need more from Jones.
However, his points total is slightly too elevated for a game with a relatively low total. The 227.5 is the second-lowest total on the board across all of today's NBA matchups.
And it's not like Jones didn't get opportunities. The small forward started the last 32 games for the Clippers, averaging 10 points per game.
Action's PRO Props have Jones projected for 10.16 points in this game. With a point total of 12.5, that works out to a 27.6% edge for bettors.
Pick: Derrick Jones Jr. Under 12.5 Points (+100)
