The Utah Jazz (1-7) and Dallas Mavericks (4-4) will square off in the NBA Cup tonight. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The game will broadcast live on NBA League Pass and can be traded on Polymarket.

The Mavericks are 7.5-point favorites over the Jazz on the spread, with the over/under set at 227.5 total points. The Mavericks are the preferred trading option, while the Jazz will be looking to pull off an upset.

Let's get into my Jazz vs. Mavericks predictions and NBA picks for Friday, November 6.

Utah Jazz Preview

The Jazz provide the exact soft matchup Cooper Flagg needs.

Utah is fundamentally awful on the defensive end of the floor. The Jazz have a terrible overall defensive rating and get absolutely torched in the pick-and-roll and offer very little legitimate resistance in the paint.

The Jazz also surrender a high volume of pull-up jump shots and foul constantly, gifting opponents easy points at the free-throw line.

Most importantly, the Jazz tend to cover opponents straight up without sending sophisticated help defense. There is quite literally no one on this Utah roster capable of covering Cooper Flagg one-on-one for a full game.

Jaren Jackson Jr. might be able to roam, but he isn't going to lock Flagg down in pure isolation.

Dallas Mavericks Preview

Flagg has stayed under his points prop in two consecutive games against the Kings and the Spurs, but I refuse to fade him tonight.

The most important metric for a volume scorer is shot attempts, and Flagg continues to hoist an outrageous number of shots regardless of efficiency.

Flagg took 19 field goal attempts in his last game against San Antonio, a game where Victor Wembanyama was literally swatting shots out of thin air.

He has logged 40 minutes of court time in three straight games. His role, minutes, and green light appear to be bulletproof.

The volume should be secure; he just needs a softer matchup for those shots to start falling.

Jazz vs Mavericks Pick, Analysis

This is the perfect buy-low bounce-back spot after a couple of frustrating shooting nights for Cooper Flagg.

The underlying volume is there; he is playing a ton of minutes, and he is facing a Utah defense that is basically allergic to getting stops.

The Jazz play at a moderate pace, but their inability to defend the pick-and-roll or protect the paint gives Flagg a high ceiling in this matchup.

I fully expect him to take 18 to 20 shots again tonight, and against this specific Utah defense, that volume should easily translate into 26 or more points.

Jazz vs Mavericks Trade: Cooper Flagg Over 25.5 Points (57 cents, Polymarket)
