We all have a pretty nice little Saturday planned: Home Depot, maybe Bed Bath & Beyond, so I’ll keep this simple. In the spirit of #SaturdaysAreForTheBoys and Wake and Rake, here is a trend that has covered 61% of the time in a 302-game sample and applies to one Saturday’s college basketball game.
The weekend is the best time in college hoops to go contrarian as recreational gamblers flood the market. To exploit the influx of square action, follow these steps:
- Fade the Public
- Target Highly Bet Games
- Target teams on ATS Losing Streaks
Find a game with all three and your bankroll will grow.
Since 2005, going contrarian on Saturdays (teams on an ATS losing streak getting <25% of spread tickets in highly bet games) that has gone 183-115-14 (61.4%) ATS. A $100 bettor would be up $6,022 following this betting system.
Southern Comfort
Behind Desonta Bradford (pictured, left) and his team-leading 15.4 points per game, East Tennessee State is leading the Southern Conference (13-1), has won 16 of its past 17 games and is currently a 13-seed in Joe Lunardi’s most recent Bracketology. The Buccaneers’ opponent on Saturday, Western Carolina, is below .500, lost by 16 points to the Bucs in January and has failed to cover in back-to-back games. East Tennessee opened as 10-point favorites, and at the time of publication more than 90% of spread bets were on the Buccaneers in a game receiving at least the daily average in terms of betting tickets.
East Tennessee should win this game, but with the public all over the Buccaneers, contrarian gamblers will side with the Catamounts of Western Carolina.
