Boise State vs Colorado State College Football Preview
Boise State Broncos Betting Preview
In the initial College Football playoff rankings, Boise State came in 25th. While it went down five spots compared to the AP Top 25, it did come in as the highest-ranked Group of Six team. However, it nearly didn't have a spot in either ranking after a wild one on the blue turf last Saturday.
Boise State jumped out to a 28-3 lead over Texas State, but the Bobcats stormed back for 36 unanswered points. The Broncos ended the game on an 18-7 run, winning the game on an 18-yard Akeem Wright touchdown catch. The senior combined with true freshman standout Rasean Jones for 17 catches for 233 yards and four touchdowns.
However, the win proved costly as quarterback Maddux Madsen left the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. The good news is the injury is not serious, and he is day-to-day. His availability for this week is still up in the air as of this writing (listed as questionable), but backup Max Cutforth proved he could handle the job as he went 8-for-11 with 131 yards and three touchdowns in the final eight minutes.
Whether it is Madsen or Cutforth, Boise State should have a lot of success moving the ball this week. Getting the ball into the hands of Dylan Riley and Jones will certainly help. Riley was somewhat held in check as he had 86 rushing yards despite getting 25 carries. However, he did go over 1,000 yards for the second straight season as well as find the end zone for the ninth time. Riley is the nation's leading rusher with 1,049 yards on 6.4 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Jones is coming off the first 100-yard game of his career. He is up to 38 receptions for 554 yards and four touchdowns, hauling in three of them last week.
Colorado State Rams Betting Preview
Last week, Colorado State faced a Utah State team averaging 14.9 points per game, but that did not matter as the Aggies scored 31 points and piled up 464 yards. It was yet another example of how abysmal Colorado State has been defensively this season.
Colorado State is last in the FBS in scoring defense, giving up 42.4 points per game. It is also last in the FBS in Rushing Success Rate, Passing Success Rate Allowed, and total defense. The Rams are allowing over 260 yards per game on the ground and through the air.
Typically, CSU's offense can somewhat keep up with its porous defense, but last week it was only able to muster 14 points and 263 yards. However, the Rams have averaged 50 points per game in their wins, and 50 might be needed to pull off the upset this week.
The Rams rank in the top 25 in points and passing yards per game despite playing two quarterbacks. Hauss Hejny and K'Saan Farrar have combined for over 2,000 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions. Hejny missed time with an injury but has started the last two games. He has two 300-yard passing games in five starts this season.
Hejny and Farrar have spread out the targets between CSU's pass catchers, as seven Rams have 15 receptions and five have 250 yards. Senior wide receiver RJ Vick leads the team with 29 receptions for 425 yards and four touchdowns.
While the Rams would prefer to throw, they do rank 19th in Rushing Success Rate. When they get inside the red zone, Durrell Robinson is their preferred option as he leads the team with nine touchdowns.

Boise State vs Colorado State Pick, Betting Analysis
Boise State and Colorado State combine for over 70 points per game, and last year's meeting had 70 points exactly as Boise State won 49-21. Six of the last eight meetings have gone over, and four of them have had 70. There is a strong likelihood this one hits 70 as well, regardless of whether Madsen plays.
If he does not, the Broncos may lean more on the run game, and that is not a bad option with Riley in the backfield. Former Boise State great Ashton Jeanty once had a rushing yards line of 192.5, and Riley's will probably come close in this matchup. His yards are not available as of this writing, but to give you an idea of the kind of day he is expected to have, he is -750 to score a touchdown.
Boise State has the stronger defense in this game, but it is not without flaws itself. The Broncos have allowed 30 points in two of their last three games, and Colorado State's offense is certainly capable. A 45-28 Broncos win would get us over, but these teams have played games with 90+ points in the last few weeks.
Another one would not surprise me.
Pick: Over 68.5 (Play to 72.5)
