  • According to an ESPN report, the Cleveland Browns are interested in interviewing Condoleezza Rice, the former Secretary of State, for their head-coaching position.
  • What are the chances the team lands an interview with Rice? And will the Browns actually hire her as the first NFL female head coach? One offshore sportsbook posted odds.

Browns GM John Dorsey made news this past week, saying he'd be open to interviewing a woman for Cleveland's head-coaching position.

And this morning, a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter took that one step further: The team would like to interview Condoleezza Rice, who's the former Secretary of State and a lifelong Browns fan, according to Schefter's report.

It takes two to tango in a job interview, of course, so what are the odds this will actually happen? And if it does, what are the chances Rice gets hired as head coach? One offshore sportsbook posted odds on Sunday:

Will the Browns interview Condoleezza Rice for head coach?

  • Yes: -150
  • No: +110

Will the Browns hire Condoleezza Rice as head coach?

  • Yes: +600
  • No: -1000

If the interview ends up happening, it would mark the first time a woman has ever been formally considered for an NFL head-coaching position.

Rice has been involved in sports in various capacities after serving as Secretary of State from 2005-09 under President George W. Bush, including being on the College Football Playoff Committee from 2013-16.

UPDATE: This Facebook post from Rice would seem to indicate she's (respectively) declining the opportunity to interview. As of 1:40 p.m. ET, MyBookie still had its odds on the board.
