Maxx Crosby's trade destination remains uncertain after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their agreed deal, with prediction markets on Kalshi showing increased volatility as traders reassess the star pass-rusher's market value following his failed physical.
The Las Vegas Raiders announced Tuesday evening that Baltimore had "backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby," with The Athletic's Dianna Russini reporting that Crosby failed his physical examination. The reversal nullifies what would have been one of the NFL's biggest offseason trades, with the Ravens getting back their two first-round picks originally sent to Las Vegas.
Market traders are now recalibrating expectations for Crosby's next destination, with his failed physical likely diminishing his trade value significantly. The knee injury that forced Crosby to cut short his 2025 season appears more serious than initially anticipated, despite the defensive end's social media declaration that he was "expecting 200% recovery" following January meniscus surgery.

The Chicago Bears have emerged as a favorite candidate to acquire Crosby at a potentially reduced price if traders are to be believed. Having initially watched from the sidelines as Baltimore secured the deal, Chicago could now capitalize on the situation to "buy low" on the three-time Pro Bowler. The Bears' need for pass rush help combined with Crosby's potentially diminished asking price creates an intriguing scenario for NFC North teams.
It's also fascinating to see Dallas so far down the traders' contracts priority, and Las Vegas still in the mix to keep Crosby.
The Raiders find themselves back at square one in their rebuilding efforts, having planned to use Baltimore's draft capital while preparing to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick. Las Vegas must now decide whether to retain Crosby through his recovery or re-enter trade negotiations with teams willing to take on the medical risk.
For Baltimore, the decision represents a significant shift in their aggressive approach to acquiring elite talent, prioritizing long-term health concerns over immediate impact additions.

What is Kalshi?
Different than a traditional sportsbook and available in most states, Kalshi allows users to make predictions across several unique markets, including sports, entertainment, elections, and even weather.
Kalshi operates on a contract-based system where users buy "contracts" (priced between 1–99 cents) based on whether they believe a specific event will happen. The price of each contract fluctuates in real time based on market sentiment, and like the stock market, traders can sell positions early to lock in profits (or minimize losses).
