2021 NFL Draft Odds: Mac Jones is Betting Favorite to Be No. 3 Pick to 49ers

When the 49ers traded up with the Miami Dolphins for the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft, it was assumed it would be to grab a quarterback.
That much still seems to be true, but betting favorite is a bit of a surprise.
According to the latest odds from DraftKings, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is the betting favorite to be the No. 3 overall pick ahead of Justin Fields and Trey Lance.
For much of the early draft process, it's been Lance and Fields slotting in behind the top two of Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson. But multiple NFL media members have thrown Jones' name out as a possible fit for Kyle Shanahan and San Francisco.

March 26: After trading up for the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers now have the best odds to select either Justin Fields or Trey Lance.
The former Ohio State and North Dakota State quarterbacks are -150 and -125, respectively, to be drafted by the 49ers in April. That gives Fields a 60% implied probability of getting drafted by the Niners and Lance a 55.6% implied probability (convert more betting odds here).
The 49ers sent a multi-pick package to the Miami Dolphins in order to move up the board: The deal included the 49ers' No. 12 pick — which the Dolphins immediately flipped for the No. 6 pick in another multi-pick trade with the Philadelphia Eagles — as well as a 2021 third-rounder and the Niners' first-round picks for the 2022 and 2023 drafts.
The trade suggests that the 49ers are targeting a quarterback at the top of the 2021 class. With former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence (-10000) a heavy favorite to be drafted first overall by the Jaguars and former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson (-305) favored to go second to the Jets, the betting market's speculation that the Niners are likely targeting either Fields or Lance at third overall makes sense.
The team with the next-best odds to draft either Fields or Lance is (unsurprisingly) the Falcons, who own the fourth overall pick.
