The EPL Midweek Coupon: Former England managers worth a look

The EPL Midweek Coupon: Former England managers worth a look article feature image

The Premier League action comes thick and fast in December, with little respite for the teams as the packed festive period rapidly approaches.

We have a packed list of midweek EPL matches this week as the chasing pack begins to turn its thoughts away from the Premier League title and instead focuses on consolidating a UEFA Champions League qualifying spot by finishing in the top four.

Chelsea's manager Antonio Conte conceded the Blues' title charge was all but over following their shock away loss at West Ham at the weekend, while leaders Manchester City struck a major blow to their closest rivals – both in geographical terms as well as in the EPL standings – when they defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford.

All of the top sides have winnable games on the midweek coupon, but there are other storylines worth considering when looking for value.

Former England managers Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce are currently working on reclamation projects as they look to steer Crystal Palace and Everton to safer waters after bad starts to the season.

Both have reasons to be optimistic ahead of their respective games this week, and both sides offer some value for bettors, too.

Here's the full midweek match list.

Crystal Palace (+120)Draw (+235)Watford (+235)

Liverpool (-500)Draw (+575)West Bromwich Albion (+1300)
Manchester United (-450)Draw (+500)Bournemouth (+1000)
Tottenham Hotspur (-475)Draw (+525)Brighton & Hove Albion (+1300)
West Ham United (+450)Draw (+320)Arsenal (-170)

Finding value:

  • After Christian Benteke's penalty miss on Saturday cost them a priceless win at home against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace will be fired up to avoid another slip up at home when they face Watford, which has taken just one point from its last three EPL games. Palace is +120 to notch the win on Tuesday.
  • The top four of Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool all have eminently winnable games, as does Tottenham. A five-way parlay pays out at odds of around +180.
  • Everton has won its last three EPL games against Newcastle United, and they're +215 to extend that run at St James' Park on Wednesday night.
  • West Ham shocked Chelsea 1-0 at the London Stadium last weekend. They're +450 to repeat the feat against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
