Manchester United look to clinch a place in the Champions League next season with a positive result against Chelsea on Thursday night.

With either a draw or victory, the Red Devils will move out of reach of Liverpool going into the final weekend of the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Blues are ready for this campaign to end, with the club set to finish in the bottom half of the English top flight for the first time since the 1995-96 season.

This fixture means everything to one team, and I think there’s a great way to attack this game from a betting perspective.

Man United Looking For Secured Champions League Spot

In his first season in the EPL, manager Erik ten Hag already has a trophy by winning the Carabao Cup, but now he has his sights set on keeping the club in the UCL for another campaign.

One of the key reasons for the success in his debut campaign has been the team’s form at Old Trafford, where United have won 13 of 17 league matches to go along with just one loss.

At home this season, the Red Devils have posted a +17.2 xGDiff, according to fbref.com, which is much better than their -4.3 mark on the road.

All eyes will be on the fitness of striker Marcus Rashford, who did return to training earlier this week. The England international leads the team with 29 goals in all competitions in what has been one of the best seasons of his career.

Chelsea Playing Dead Fixture

Frank Lampard was brought back to the club to lead the team as manager on April 6. Since his arrival, Chelsea have seven losses in nine matches in all competition, with the only positive results coming in a win at Bournemouth and a draw at home against Nottingham Forest.

The Blues' defense has taken the biggest dip in form under Lampard, allowing an average of 1.43 xG and 2.9 big chances per 90 minutes in the EPL.

They haven’t picked up a clean sheet in his seven games to go along with allowing four goals over two legs to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Chelsea have been on the beach since getting knocked out of the UCL, and I don’t see that changing in this match.

Man United vs Chelsea Pick

Before I get into my best bet, it is very crucial to wait until you get team news for this match for any heavy rotations on either side. However, I do expect United to put out a strong team to wrap up the CL and get the opportunity to rest their starters in the final league match before the FA Cup final.

With that said, my best bet is for the total to fall under three goals at -111 odds, which I would play to -130.

This same play would have only been a losing ticket in one of the previous nine matches for United at home against the bottom 10 sides. It also cashed in the last five in the EPL at Old Trafford.

The only two games for the season that finished with more than three goals at home came against Arsenal in September and Leeds United in February.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s fixtures on the road against top-half teams have also been low scoring, with this bet cashing on six of nine occasions.

If I were to back the Red Devils, I would be chasing better prices of either United to Win to Nil (+180) or pairing a home victory with the total going under four (+150) or three goals (+375).

Pick: Under 3 (-111)
