World No. 4 Taylor Fritz is a bit of an unknown quantity right now, arriving at the French Open with just six games played in the clay court season.

The top-ranked American admitted in April that he had been playing with an ongoing abdominal injury, which had limited him and forced him to withdraw from the Monte-Carlo Masters.

However, his performances up until that point had been solid, with a semifinal berth in the Miami Masters the highlight of his season.

A round of 16 loss to clay specialist Casper Ruud at Madrid could be understood, but getting shocked by countryman Marcos Giron at Rome is dumbfounding.

Regardless, he should find no great opposition in Daniel Altmaier. The German has struggled to make waves this season outside the second-tier ATP Challenger Tour and boasts a 9-13 record, more a testament to the number of tournaments he's played in than anything else.

I'll take the line at a three-set match.

Pick: Three Sets Played (+115 via BetMGM)

It's been an ugly clay-court season for Denis Shapovalov, as the Canadian has lost to Vilius Gaubas (136th rank, Rome), Diego Dedura (372nd rank, Munich) and Marcos Giron (45th rank, first round of Monte-Carlo).

So, in terrible form, how does Shapovalov expect to cruise past Pedro Martinez by five games?

Well, Pedro Martinez is just 10-14 this season overall and has lost three of his last four matches on clay. However, the Spaniard thrives on the surface, with wins over Brandon Nakashima and Lorenzo Sonego in 2025 and 19 more victories on clay in his career than any other surface.

Shapovalov did win the first and only meeting between the two in Rome, but that match happened five years ago. Even then, it was a close 6-4, 6-4 loss for Martinez.

Ultimately, we're not asking for a victory here, just for Martinez to win a set and keep it within the spread, which is doable with surface and (potentially) form edges.

Pick: Pedro Martinez +4.5

Jarry vs Fils Odds

Jarry Odds+450
Fils Odds-700
Over/Under34.5 (-130o / -110u)

Arthur Fils arrives at the French Open as the crowd's biggest hope for a home winner. The 20-year-old became the top-ranked French player in March after overtaking Ugo Humbert and is enjoying his best-ever ranking at 14th.

The youngster had a respectable clay court season, reaching the Monte-Carlo quarters (lost 6-4, 5-7, 3-6 to Carlos Alcaraz) and the Barcelona Open semis (lost 2-6, 4-6 again to Alcaraz) before an on-fire Francisco Comesaña sent him packing from Madrid and losing in the round of 16 to Alexander Zverev.

A powerful, modern player, Fils uses his explosive forehand to close points fast and in style, but he will have to learn to be patient if he's to treat the Parisian crowds to a first French winner since Yannick Noah in 1983.

He matches up against a struggling Nicolás Jarry. While the Chilean can still shock many on a good day, he's 5-11 for the year and has yet to move past the third round of an ATP Tour-level event since Brisbane in January.

I expect Fils to make quick work of Jarry, but with the moneyline so hard on his side, betting the Under looks a far more tempting proposition.

Pick: Under 34.5 Games (-110 via BetMGM)
