Coco Gauff feels excellent on clay, performing even more efficiently on this surface than on hard courts. This is proven not only by her past deep runs at this venue and her consecutive final appearances in Rome, but especially by her overall style of play.
It is clear she steps onto clay with immense self-confidence; her forehand becomes a more lethal weapon, and her serve does not cause her nearly as many issues.
Consequently, she can rightfully be considered one of the premium clay-court players on the tour.
In her opening round this week, despite understandable initial nerves and facing a highly capable opponent in Taylor Townsend, she secured a dominant victory, including a clean 6-0 sweep in the second set.
Mayar Sherif Betting Preview
Mayar Sherif is no pushover and plays a vast majority of her tennis on clay. However, her recent form has been shaky, as evidenced by straight-set defeats to Polina Kudermetova and Nikola Salkova.
