2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Picks: Odds & Bets for Callum Tarren, Stephan Jaeger & Mark Hubbard

While many of the Ryder Cup competitors might be feeling a hangover this week (both figuratively and literally), there is no time for us to recover from our sleepless nights as the PGA Tour is back in action at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

This is one of the weakest fields of the year, so the odds might look a little ugly at first glance. However, keep in mind that everything is relative. We aren't used to seeing golfers like Emiliano Grillo priced at +2500, but he typically plays in much stronger fields.

The Country Club of Jackson hosts the Sanderson Farms Championship, and the course is a par-72 that stretches over 7,400 yards. With very few doglegs, very little tree trouble, playable rough and four par-5s, this is a bomber's paradise. We've seen three very good drivers of the ball win here in the last five years in Sergio Garcia, Sam Burns and Cameron Champ.

The greens here are relatively easy to hit on average, and even if golfers miss them, scrambling isn't too difficult. While I like looking at distance off the tee, iron play and putting are always needed to win a PGA Tour event, and these greens feature bermudagrass if you like to factor in putting splits.

I have my eye on three outrights and one top-40 bet.

Sanderson Farms Championship Picks

Stephen Jaeger +2000 (FanDuel)

Stephan Jaeger is one of those golfers who is known for his floor rather than his ceiling, but he was in contention a few times in 2023. He should be more used to the Sunday nerves and more confident in a field where he's one of the best players.

He's long and straight off the tee, he can gain strokes in bunches with his irons, and he has an underrated short game. He's rattled off 14 straight made cuts on Tour and has finished in the top 30 of this event three times in his last four appearances.

Callum Tarren +5000 (FanDuel)

Callum Tarren is one of the more volatile golfers in the field, but that's not always a bad thing when it comes to betting on outrights. He has a wide range of outcomes, but one of those is being in contention on Sunday.

He's one of the longest hitters in the field and one of the best birdie-makers in this field. That's a lethal combination on this golf course.

He enters the week in solid form (T7 at the Fortinet Championship) and clearly has an affinity for this golf course (T5 last year). I like the fit, the form and the course history.

Nicholas Lindheim +5500 (BetMGM, BetMGM bonus code available)

Nicholas Lindheim is a veteran who has dealt with injuries over the last couple of years. He has only teed it up nine times in 2023, but he hasn't missed a cut during that stretch. More importantly, he picked up a win and four other top-10 finishes.

Only one of those nine events was on the PGA Tour, but his game is clearly in great shape, and now he gets a chance to prove himself in the big leagues once again.

This is my favorite time of year to target those that played well in the prior Korn Ferry Tour season, and he has already secured his PGA Tour card for the 2024 season.

Mark Hubbard Top 40 -135 (BetMGM)

Whenever I bet on placements, I always look to see if BetMGM has a good price.

The reasoning is simple — they don't have the dead-heat reduction with their placement bets. In other words, we will get the full payout on Mark Hubbard, even if he finishes in a five-way tie for 40th.

Hubbard is around -150 on other books, so I jumped on the -135 at BetMGM right when I saw it.

He has finished in the top 40 in 10 of his last 16 starts, and this is one of the weakest fields that he's played in this season. He's one of the best iron players in the field, and he finished T5 at this event last season.
