2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans Odds

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans will feature fourball (best ball) in the first and third rounds on Thursday and Saturday along with foursomes (alternate shot) in the second and fourth rounds on Friday and Sunday.

Cantlay and Schauffele opened as the favorites at +400 on Monday morning at bet365 and have won (2022) and finished in a tie for fourth (2023) in each of their last two appearances at TPC Louisiana. They have since drifted slightly to +420 to win outright as of Wednesday afternoon.

Although teams typically shoot better in best ball than alternate shot, Cantlay and Schauffele's best round last year came in alternate shot when they shot a foursomes tournament-record 63 (-9). However, their below average fourball scores held them back from winning.

Nick Hardy and Davis Riley won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2023, and they are back to defend their title with +5500 odds. Since their win, neither Hardy nor Riley has finished in the top 10 of a single tournament, so they will look to find a spark again in the bayou this week.

While their win last year was surprising, the pair wasn't even planning on playing together until a few late audibles in the process. Riley had previously paired with Will Zalators in 2022 when they tied for fourth here, but Zalatoris was dealing with a back injury in 2023, meaning Riley needed a new partner.

Hardy was originally planning on playing the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with his Fighting Illini teammate Thomas Detry, but with 2023 being a Ryder Cup year, Detry instead was influenced by Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald to pair with potential Ryder Cup teammate Victor Perez in this event. Consequently, both Hardy and Riley, who grew up playing junior golf and college golf against each other, each needed a partner, and the rest is history.

Speaking of longtime friends, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are also teaming up in the New Orleans area this week, and they have the second-shortest odds to win at +800. McIlroy noted that shortly following the Ryder Cup victory for Team Europe, he asked Lowry over a very drunken lunch if he was interested in teaming up, and Lowry said yes.

Zalatoris, who needed a new partner with Riley now with Hardy, is teaming up with Sahith Theegala this week, and they are the third and final team with odds of 10-1 or shorter as they opened at +950 at bet365 and have shortened to +800. Theegala had previously played this event in 2022 with Beau Hossler (missed cut) and in 2023 with Justin Suh (T23).
