Sam Burns Defeats Scottie Scheffler in Charles Schwab Challenge for Fourth Career PGA Tour Victory

Sam Burns picked up his fourth career PGA Tour win on Sunday when he won the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club.
Burns was anywhere between 25-1 and 35-1 at most sportsbooks before the start of the tournament.
Burns fired a 65 in the final round after starting the day in 17th place. Circa Sports posted his odds at 200-1 to win the golf tournament after Saturday. He finished a whole two hours before the leaders finished, but was able to regather himself while hitting some balls on the range before the playoff.
The playoff didn't last long as Burns drained a 37-foot putt for birdie on the first hole. Scheffler missed his putt from around the same distance.
At just 25 years old, Burns has now asserted himself as one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour — especially after beating the biggest rising star in Scheffler.
In his final round, Scheffler failed to make a single birdie or eagle and somehow still found himself in a playoff after shooting a 2-over par 72. Scheffler was +1200 to win as one of the favorites heading into the week.
Harold Varner III was leading at the turn at 10-under and proceeded to shoot 45 (10-over) on the back nine. He triple-bogeyed holes 12 and 14 and took a double on 13. A stretch of 8-over over three holes is something some of the readers might be used to, but not professional golfers. Varner was around +5000 to win at most books before the tournament.
Davis Riley snuck into contention heading into the back nine on Sunday, but finished 4-over on his final six holes to shoot a 1-under 71.
Brendon Todd hung around all day but shot 2-over on the back nine to ruin his chances. He ended up finishing third. He would've been the biggest longshot in contention to take home the trophy at 125-1.
