Some people woke up to a Scottie Scheffler mugshot and were in utter disbelief. Others saw the mugshot and immediately went to bet him.

As Scheffler was arrested on Friday morning before his tee time, his odds of winning the PGA Championship rose from +450 to +650. Those odds quickly were brought back down to +450 after bettors rushed to their apps to take the No. 1 player in the world after being released from jail.

Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.

Due to the fact play was suspended for over an hour, Scheffler made it back for his Friday tee time. Bettors showed their support by backing him in the outright markets.

"I can tell you we have 2x the number of bets to win the tournament on Scheffler than any other player since his arrest this morning," a BetMGM spokesperson said in a statement.

At FanDuel, Scheffler accounted for 9% of the outright bets as of Thursday. After Scheffler was back on the golf course on Friday, Scheffler accounted for 16% of the outright bets.

Scheffler was the favorite to win the tournament before the PGA Championship started. After Xander Schauffele shot an opening round 62, Scheffler fell to the second-favorite at most sportsbooks.

As of this writing, Scheffler is one-under par in the second round and five-under for the tournament. He is four shots behind Schauffele.
