After dropping Game 1 of the series last night, the Guardians get to turn to their ace, Parker Messick. Messick has been dynamite this season, pitching to a 2.56 ERA while providing consistent depth.
Messick has averaged over six innings per start, showing he can get batters out in a variety of ways. However, tonight the Diamondbacks' tendencies point toward an even more efficient outing for Cleveland's young lefty.
Arizona has been excellent against lefties this season, posting a 117 wRC+ while holding the lowest strikeout rate in the majors. Their ability to make constant contact is the key.
