Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview
The Diamondbacks are stumbling into this series, having dropped four of their past five games.
However, a closer look shows the Diamonbacks' cold stretch has been much longer than a week.
What's deceiving about the Dbacks' numbers, especially against righties, is that they now lead the majors in wRC+, OPS, and ISO against them on the season, although they have dropped off significantly over the past month.
Over their last 30 games, Arizona ranks 25th in average, 14th in OPS and 15th in wRC+.
Their decline opens the door for a young right-hander in Troy Metlton to shine tonight.
Melton had a rough major league debut as the Pirates tagged him for six runs on seven hits over five innings. However, he flashed excellent stuff and struck out seven batters.
With debut jitters out of the way, we should see Melton have more success tonight, given he's catching this Diamondbacks lineup at the right time.
Detroit Tigers Betting Preview
As for the Tigers, it's a similar story. They come into this series with a 2-8 record over their last 10 ballgames, and despite a good matchup on paper, their recent stretch does not inspire much confidence.
For the season, Detroit has done damage against lefties, ranking fourth in wRC+ and OPS while sitting in seventh in ISO.
However, over the last month, southpaws have gotten the best of them.
In their last 30 games, the Tigers rank 28th in average and OPS, while placing 27th in wRC+.
This cold stretch has the potential to make any lefty look good, even Eduardo Rodriguez.
E-Rod has had a rough 2025 campaign. He comes into this outing with a 5.50 ERA and 1.65 WHIP.
However, he has done a good job of limiting hard contact, as his hard-hit rate is in the 88th percentile, which is impressive.
That amount of soft contact suggests he's due for better results, and his xERA of 4.31 and xFIP of 3.95 confirm he's pitched much better than his season ERA portrays.
There may be no better time for a lefty to face the Tigers than tonight. So, look for Rodriguez to get it right.

As we've gone over, at first glance, this matchup appears to be a great one for both lineups.
However, the issue is that they are far from their best form right now and face two starters who can capitalize on that.
