It's safe to say that the Diamondbacks are in a rough spot tonight. They put together an impressive nine-run outburst in the series opener last night, but are likely to wish they had saved some runs for tonight, as they have to contend with Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Arizona enters this matchup as the worst team in the majors against right-handed pitching. They are last in wRC+ and ISO against righties. This Diamondbacks lineup will put the ball in play, but with very little authority, as their hard-hit and barrel rates are well below league average.
Their struggles will be amplified tonight with Yamamoto on the mound. He's been excellent all season, but has really locked in lately. Over his last five starts, Yamamoto holds a 1.78 ERA.

On the other side of this matchup, the Dodgers lineup has a far better outlook. They are second in the wRC+ against righties and first in OPS. It's clear they are a threat to do damage at any time, but with Shohei Ohtani hampered by a knee injury, the top of the order loses a bit of thump.
Although Los Angeles does have a good matchup ahead of them, facing Brand Pfaadt. Pfaadt has a 5.21 ERA across 48 innings this season, and while his xERA is 4.03, he shows few indicators of positive regression.
