Astros vs Rockies odds have the Astros installed as -225 favorites on the moneyline, with an over/under of 16.5. For my Astros vs Rockies prediction, I will be looking at the Astros' run line.

Astros vs Rockies in Mexico City on Saturday features Ronel Blanco on the mound for Houston and Cal Quantrill for Colorado.

Let's dive into my MLB betting preview and Astros vs Rockies Mexico Series spread pick.

Houston Astros

Right-hander Ronel Blanco gets the ball for Houston, and he should be a good candidate to back. Blanco has gotten off to a tremendous start in his sophomore campaign, posting a 2-0 record with a commanding 1.33 ERA and 0.85 WHIP through his first four starts.

The Astros won by at least two runs in three of those four outings. Based on Blanco's underlying metrics, regression is unlikely as he ranks in the 91st percentile or higher in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity, Barrel% and Hard-Hit%.

He could also get some solid run support, as Houston ranks in the top half of the league in hits per game, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, home runs and stolen bases. It ranks higher than Colorado in each of those six categories.

That success is likely to continue against Quantrill, a pitcher whom this lineup boasts a .292 BA, .396 SLG and .354 wOBA against through 56 career plate appearances.

Colorado Rockies

Speaking of Quantrill, he is 0-2 through five starts this season with a fade-worthy 4.33 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. His underlying metrics are just as poor, as he ranks in the 45th percentile or lower in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity and Barrel%.

Following Quantrill is a fade-worthy relief staff that ranks in the bottom nine of the league in ERA and FIP. Not that these pitchers are likely to get much run support, given that the Rockies rank 22nd in runs scored per game.

There is just nothing to like about this Colorado team, especially on a day when Quantrill takes the mound. He is terrible, the bullpen is hardly any better and the lineup can't hit.

Astros vs. Rockies

Betting Pick & Prediction

That all sounds harsh, but that is just the reality of the current state of Rockies baseball. Yes, both teams are 7-19 entering this matchup, but those are very different records.

There is a lot of optimism to be had for Houston to turn it around based on stats, analytics and roster construction. None of those three aspects are promising when looking from Colorado's point of view.

If the Astros were even just a few games better to begin the campaign, they would be laying nearly two dollars on the run line.

Pick: Astros -1.5 (-164 at FanDuel | Play to -155)
