Reds vs Padres MLB Betting Preview
Editor’s Note: This written pick is a transcription from today's episode of the Payoff Pitch Podcast.
Flipping to the Reds today, I like them both in the first five innings and for the full game.
I’m betting the Reds First 5 up to -165 and the Reds full game up to -125.
Just looking at the lineups quickly, the Reds project for more power while the Padres project for more contact, but overall, I give the edge in offensive quality to Cincinnati.
The main concern is that the Reds currently project as one of the weakest bullpens in baseball. The Padres obviously have a much stronger bullpen, but I expect Mason Miller to be unavailable tonight after throwing three times in the last four days. That should downgrade San Diego’s bullpen from elite (No. 2 or No. 3) down to roughly league average for this game.
With a massive starting pitching advantage and the better offense on their side, I’m comfortable taking the Reds in both halves.
Pick: Reds ML (-124 or Better) | Reds F5 ML (-165 or Better)
