Guardians vs Tigers Preview
One of the worst offenses faces one of the best pitchers in the league.
The Guardians are 28th in wRC+ this season with an 88 rating, and will have to deal with Tarik Skubal, last season's Cy Young and top candidate again this year.
Skubal has been cleared to pitch after experiencing tightness in his last start. He holds a 0.86 WHIP and a 2.26 ERA in 2025, but his splits for this game are even better. The Tigers ace has a 2.17 ERA at home and a 1.79 ERA in day games.
Tanner Bibbe will oppose him for Cleveland, and he has an ERA of 1.15 in two starts this month. He held the Rays to just two runs in six and 2/3 innings to start September and is coming off a complete game shutout, with only two hits allowed and 10 strikeouts, against the White Sox.
Bibee will face a Detroit lineup going through a minor slump. The Tigers have produced only 16 runs in their past six games for an average of 2.67.
This aligns with our Bet Labs recommendation to go with the under.
This system targets unders in MLB series games (Game 2 or later) where both teams have winning records, suggesting quality pitching and competitive matchups.
However, public betting leans toward the over ā likely expecting fireworks between top teams ā which creates contrarian value on the under.
By capitalizing on low public support for the under (ā¤35%), the strategy fades public perception in favor of market inefficiencies, especially when bettors overestimate offensive output late in a series.
Pick: Under 7.5 (-120, bet365)
