Guardians vs Yankees MLB Betting Preview
The Yankees are set to host the Guardians on Tuesday night in the first of a three-game homestand at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
25-year-old right-hander Cam Schlittler will take the mound for the Yankees, looking to improve on what has been a phenomenal start to his 2026 campaign thus far. Lefty Joey Cantillo is scheduled to be on the bump for the visiting Guardians.
Below, I will break down Tuesday night’s American League clash and further provide a “same-game-parlay” (SGP) betting angle that you can use when wagering on this matchup.
For the first leg of our SGP ahead of Tuesday night’s contest, I will be looking to back the Yankees on the moneyline, which should build a solid foundation for our parlay in a matchup where New York should hold a sizable starting-pitching edge.
Yanks’ righty Cam Schittler is having a phenomenal start to his second year in the Big Leagues, having posted a 1.50 ERA across his first 12 outings in 2026, which ranks second in all of baseball, trailing just Phillies’ ace Cristopher Sanchez.
New York’s youngster also ranks second in the Major Leagues in WHIP, having posted a 0.84 mark on the season.
Schittler has also shown a rather impressive punch-out prowess with the Yankees’ righty having recorded 81 strikeouts across his 72 frames on the mound thus far. Despite having started in just 26 games over the course of his young career, the Yanks’ 25-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the best arms in the “Big Show”.
Though far more inconsistent, Guardians’ left-hander Joey Cantillo is having a solid season on the mound as well.
In 58 innings pitched across 12 starts to begin his 2026 season, the Hawaii-native has recorded a 3.57 ERA along with a 1.40 WHIP thus far.
Cantillo is coming off a very impressive 2025 campaign with Cleveland’s lefty having concluded the season with career-bests in ERA and WHIP at 3.21 and 1.26, respectively.
Though the Guardians’ youngin is showing some solid form on the bump, he may have his toughest start of the season on Tuesday night as he prepares to face one of the best lineups in all of baseball.
Despite an impressive start to the season, I worry about Cantillo’s ability to retire Yankee hitters given his lack of strikeout prowess on the mound.
The Guardians’ lefty has fanned just 52 hitters thus far across his 12 starts in 2026, which is how most pitchers typically find success against such a stacked lineup from one to nine.
Cantillo relies heavily on the command of his off-speed arsenal as opposed to his higher velocity pitches and rarely blows hitters away with his four-seam fastball.
While I do feel Cleveland’s left-hander will continue his impressive form for the remainder of the season, I am worried about this matchup for him versus a Yankees’ bunch that boasts elite heavy contact-rates at the plate and remarkable exit-velocities off of left-handed pitching.
Below, I will provide a second betting angle to improve the value of our SGP ahead of Tuesday night’s American League showdown.
Pick: Yankees ML
For the second leg of our SGP, I will be looking to back Yankees’ OF Aaron Judge to exceed his 1.5 Total Base (TB) mark on Tuesday night in what sets up to be a prime matchup for New York’s superstar slugger.
When it comes to retiring Judge, the best means to do so over the last several years has been to either attack him with high-velocity pitches up-and-away, or breaking pitches off the corner of the strike zone.
That said, I worry about Cantillo’s lack of strikeout prowess matched up with a power-hitter of Judge’s caliber, especially in the Bronx, where the Yanks’ three-time AL MVP winner launches most of his homers.
Though the Guardians’ left-hander does have some effective pitches in his off-speed arsenal that break low-and-away, it more frequently results in high ground-ball rates than punch-outs, which may not be as effective at a hitter-friendly ballpark like Yankee Stadium.
The Yanks’ 34-year-old slugger is having another exceptional year at the plate, having smashed 17 homers thus far, which ranks fourth in all of baseball. Judge has also driven in 38 runners (RBIs) and boasts a rather impressive .915 OPS in 2026.
While I expect Cantillo to find some success versus a number of Yankees’ hitters, I favor Judge to have another huge game at the plate and thus will be backing him to exceed his 1.5 TB mark ahead of Tuesday night’s clash.
Pick: Aaron Judge Over 1.5 Total Bases
