Here are my projections for the All-Star Game via my new PRO baseball betting tool, BARTOLO:

MLB Picks Today: Sean Zerillo's Best Bets for the MLB All-Star Game Image

The National League is missing more potential talent from its roster than the American League.

Shohei Ohtani, Chase Burns, Braxton Ashcraft, Paul Skenes, Max Meyer, and Jacob Misiorowski were all replaced due to rest or injury, while Zack Wheeler was arguably snubbed from the team.

The American League lineup has lost three potential starting hitters due to injury (Nick Kurtz, Aaron Judge, and Byron Buxton), while Tarik Skubal — who missed significant time this season — didn't make their roster either.

Still, even with those key absences, I prefer the AL's starting lineup to the NL's starting nine. I project the AL starters for a 136 wRC+ and a .367 wOBA, four to six points better than the NL's 132 wRC+ and .361 wOBA.

In a full game using the starting lineups, I'd make the NL very slight favorites (-102) and set the total near 9 runs.

However, I prefer the NL reserves much more than the AL bench, projecting the NL backups for a 133 wRC+ and .363 wOBA, compared to 128 wRC+ and .355 wOBA for the AL bench. They also rate as the better group both defensively and on the basepaths.

In a full game using the reserve lineups, I'd make the NL far more substantial favorites (-144) and set the total closer to 7.5 runs.

Due to the NL pitching defections, the AL has the slightly better starting pitchers (projected 3.20 vs. 3.32 wFIP), but the NL still has the better relief pitchers, by about four-tenths of a run on a weighted FIP projection.

Ultimately, I set the NL as -122 home favorites, and I don't see value on either side of the moneyline.

However, you can bet the AL to win the first five innings (F5) to +110. I make the game closer to a coin flip when both starting lineups are involved over the first half of the game (and you also avoid the inevitable Mason Miller appearance).

Pick: American League F5 ML (+110 or Better)

For the total, two PRO signals are aligned with Top Experts and Sharp Action moving us from 7.5 (over -122) up to 8.

Zerillo is also on the Over for this game.

Citizens Bank Park is a run-producing venue, rated number five by StatCast for runs over the last three years, which supports the play on the Over. The weather also looks good for hitting tonight, with double-digit breezes blowing out toward right field.

CJ Abrams Home Run

I’m looking to take a shot on a National League player to blast one out of the park.

It’s unclear how many at-bats each player will get, but I’m hopeful that Washington shortstop CJ Abrams will get at least two in this contest (before some inevitable lineup changes).

I’m a huge fan of Abrams, who smashed 20 homers and drove in 65 runs in the first half.

Also, Citizens Bank Park is a very hitter-friendly park for left-handed batters.

Pick: CJ Abrams Home Run (+800, FanDuel)
