Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool Sportsbook.
This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half-innings from the first innings of two different games and allows you to tailor the bet to your preferences.
Our first selection for today's custom NRFI features Marlins starter Jesus Luzardo. Luzardo has been exceptional this season, boasting an impressive 17-2 NRFI record, including a near-perfect 7-1 road NRFI split.
Overall, Luzardo's NRFI record stands at an outstanding 32-4 since 2022. And when facing batters for the first time through the order, Luzardo has been extremely proficient, allowing only 31 hits in 163 at-bats for an average of .190.
Luzardo has held his own in previous matchups against the Cardinals, keeping Nolan Arenado (1-for-8), Jordan Walker (0-for-3), Dylan Carlson (0-for-4), William Contreras (2-for-6) and Lars Nootbaar (0-for-2) from making a big impact.
Arenado finds himself in a slump, recording only two hits in his last 11 at-bats for a .182 average. Walker is also struggling, managing only two hits in his last 13 at-bats, although his significance relies on where he bats in the lineup.
Our second selection for today's custom NRFI focuses on Sonny Gray, the veteran from the Twins.
Gray has been reliable this season, holding a strong 16-2 NRFI record to bring his overall NRFI record to an impressive 37-5 since 2022.
Gray has also held his own in previous matchups against today's opponents. Teoscar Hernandez (2-for-13), Julio Rodriguez (0-for-4), Eugenio Suarez (1-for-5), Ty France (2-for-5),and Jarred Kelenic (0-for2) have struggled against Gray.
It's worth noting that Hernandez is currently mired in a significant slump, with only six hits in his last 41 at-bats for a .146 average.
