Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings, BetMGM and Barstool.

This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half-innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to have a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.

Our first selection today's custom NRFI features Philadelphia Phillies ace, Zack Wheeler. This season, Wheeler has a stellar 16-4 NRFI record and a notable 8-2 NRFI split on the road, bringing his overall NRFI record to an impressive 39-7 since 2022.

In the past, Wheeler has dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates' hitters, holding Andrew McCutchen to 3-15 at the plate, Ji-man Choi to 1-3 and Joe Connor to 0-3.

The Pirates' struggles have continued into the month of July as they currently possess one of the worst first-inning batting averages, with only 13 hits in 82 plate appearances, resulting in a .176 average. Additionally, it is worth noting that Pirates leadoff hitter Jack Suwinski has only managed five hits in his last 29 at-bats for a .172 average.

This season, the Pirates hold an alarming 82% NRFI rate at home, with a team record of 40-9.

Our second selection for today's custom NRFI showcases Sonny Gray of the Minnesota Twins. This season Gray has been in stellar form, boasting an impressive 18-2 NRFI record, with a near-perfect 8-1 NRFI split on the road. Overall, Gray's NRFI record stands at an outstanding 39-5 since 2022.

When facing batters the first time through the order, Gray has been magnificent, allowing only a .207 average. In the past, Gray has shown his prowess against the Kansas City Royals' hitters, holding MJ Melendez to 2-10, Salvador Pérez to 6-31, Bobby Witt Jr. to 2-14, Nick Prado to 1-5 and Nicky Lopez to 1-7.

Since July 1, the Kansas City Royals have struggled in the first inning, achieving only 12 hits in 78 plate appearances, resulting in a .167 average.

This custom NRFI is priced at (-133) on DraftKings Sportsbook.

As always, six outs to glory…
