Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers.
This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool. This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half-innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to tailor the bet to your preferences.
Our first selection for today's custom NRFI is Zack Wheeler, the ace of the Philadelphia Phillies and a dark-horse contender for the National League Cy Young Award.
Wheeler's overall NRFI performance since 2022 stands at an outstanding 35-6, including a 12-3 record this season. Today, Wheeler has a key advantage.
The Mets have struggled in the first inning this season, managing just a .158 average in the past week, with three hits in 23 plate appearances. Wheeler has held his own in previous matchups against the Mets, including strong performances against Jeff McNeil (5-for-26), Francisco Lindor (6-for-23) and Brandon Nimmo (9-for-33).
It's also worth noting that Wheeler's home splits are remarkably better, adding to his advantage in today's game.
Our second selection for today's custom NRFI is Eury Perez, the talented rookie from the Miami Marlins who has emerged as a future NRFI superstar. Perez has taken the NRFI scene by storm, boasting a perfect 8-0 record on the season.
Perez has excelled when facing batters for the first time through the order, allowing only 11 hits in 66 at-bats for a .167 batting average. He has also held lead-off hitters to a mere .174 average this season.
As a rookie, Perez has never faced any of the Pirates' hitters in the past, which is a nice advantage in the NRFI market. Also to his advantage, the Pirates are the worst first-inning hitting team in baseball over the past week with a 0.91 average in over 25 plate appearances.
