Charlie Wright's Twins vs Tigers Best Bet: Great Matchup for the Home Team
We took the under on Bailey Ober's strikeout prop last time out, and he posted a season-high seven Ks. However, he also gave up seven earned runs.
Ober has now allowed 23 ERs over 24 1/3 innings pitched in June. He has given up a ridiculous 10 home runs in four starts.
The angle remains the same as last time. Ober has been open about working through mechanical issues that stemmed from injuries in Spring Training. Knee and hip problems have led to inconsistency and diminished velocity.
Ober's ERA is a hair under 5.00. His xFIP and SIERA are both over 4.50. He has a career-low 18.3% K%. He has been tattooed by both righties and lefties.
Detroit ranks 8th in wRC+ against righties this month. They're top 10 in SLG and ISO. There's power up and down the lineup. It's warm and breezy at Comerica Park today. The Tigers are positioned to put up some runs.
Pick: Bailey Ober Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-137)
Justin Van Zuiden's Marlins vs Diamondbacks Best Bet: End of the Streak
The Marlins have somehow won five games in a row and seven straight on the road. That good fortune will come to an abrupt end at some point, and I am banking on today being that day.
Brandon Pfaadt has steadied the ship of late after a horrible start to the year, and his major weakness is left-handed power bats. The Marlins don't have many of those.
I trust the Diamondbacks more offensively, and while Sandy Alcantara has been better of late, he is no longer a top pitcher. Give me Arizona to end the Miami winning streak.
Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks ML (-146)
Will Priester's Giants vs White Sox Best Bet: Ray To Pick Up Ks
By Will Priester
This feels like a spot where Robbie Ray can go out and pick up the strikeouts. He's sitting at a 27.7% K rate on the season, and this team is struggling with lefties so far.
I like our chances. I also think the odds are in favor of this one, so getting in early is key.
Pick: Robbie Ray Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-135)
Will Priester's Nationals vs Giants Best Bet: Back Soroka Against the Angels
By Will Priester
Soroka is having a really nice season so far in terms of his strikeout rate. He's sitting at 26.2% overall and doesn't have much of a gap between the left and right sides of the plate.
Today, Soroka faces a fairly free-swinging Angels team. While they do have some power in this lineup, the strikeouts should be there.
I like our chances of him picking up six or more strikeouts.
