For my Wednesday MLB player props, I'll be looking into a pair of young flamethrowers dueling in Milwaukee in Paul Skenes and Jacob Misiorowski. Additionally, I will be backing Ketel Marte and Teoscar Hernandez as well.

Let's dive into my MLB player props and Wednesday picks for the games on June 25.

Paul Skenes more has than lived up to expectations since the Pirates selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Entry Draft.

He has established himself as the best young pitcher in the game and may soon have a Cy Young next to his name as well. Skenes has a 1.85 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 102 innings this season. He has a 27.2% strikeout rate and 29.5% whiff rate.

Pirates vs Brewers Predictions, Picks, Odds Today Image

Skenes is coming off a nine strikeout performance last Thursday in Detroit. He has now had at least seven strikeouts in six of his last starts. He also has 19 strikeouts in 13 innings in two career starts against the Brewers. He has fanned William Contreras, Christian Yelich, Brice Turang, Sal Frelick, and Jake Bauers at least twice.

Meanwhile, Jacob Misiorowski may not have had the same draft pedigree as Skenes, but he was a second-round pick in 2022 himself and was the Brewers' No. 4 prospect (per MLB Pipeline) at the time of his call-up.

He has become appointment viewing television with 18 pitches of 101+ mph through his two starts. In those starts,  Misiorowski has allowed just one hit and two earned runs in 11 innings while striking out 11 batters.

Between these two, Misiorowski also has the easier matchup. The Pirates are ninth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers this season. In particular, ONeil Cruz may be a strong candidate for at least two strikeouts as he has 31 strikeouts in 88 plate appearances this month.

While we only have two starts to go off, Misiorowski is 2-for-2 in recording five strikeouts thus far. Skenes is 2-for-2 in two starts against the Brewers and cashing this number at a 85% clip. By combining the two, we get plus odds for this combo for what should be a pitchers duel in Milwaukee.

Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105)

At home, Ketel Marte has been very productive with four homers, a .286 batting average, and a .866 OPS in 88 at-bats. However, he may not be too thrilled that Arizona's road trip is coming to an end. Thus far, Marte has a hit in six of seven starts on this trip and he is 15-for-29 (.517) with five doubles, three home runs, nine runs batted in, and a 1.548 OPS. That tracks with how well he has done on the road this season as he is slashing .349/.434./736 with 19 extra-base 106 at-bats.

In Chicago, Marte has homered in the first two games against the White Sox, hitting a 401-foot shot to right center in the first inning last night. He is +375 on ESPN Bet for his 16th home run of the season. White Sox right-hander Sean Burke has been tougher on left-handed batters this season, but he has surrendered five homers and nine extra-base hits to left-handed batters. He also has a 4.50 ERA and 1.42 WHIP this season.

Marte has two hits in each of his last five starts. If that trend continues, he will record two total bases regardless of whether he leaves the yard or not.

Dodgers vs Rockies Player Props: Hernandez Total Bases

Teoscar Hernandez has three home runs in his last 10 games and he is third on the Dodgers with 14 on the year. He did not leave the yard last night. However, he went 2-for-5 with two RBI as the Dodgers shook off an early deficit for a 9-7 victory over the Rockies.

Hernandez has a hit in four straight and in six of his last seven games. I like his chances of reaching safely against Rockies right-hander Chase Dollander. The former ninth overall pick has not yet adapted to Coors Field as he has a 9.58 ERA and .341 opposing batting average in five home starts. He may be in for a long day against the powerful Dodgers.

Hernandez has not faced Dollander yet, but like Marte, he has been better on the road this season and is hitting .288 with 11 doubles, five home runs, and a .815 OPS. He is also hitting .368 with two doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBI in eight career games at Coors Field. He has averaged 3.2 total bases per game in that span. Tonight, we will take two to clear this line.
