Aaron Civale Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+120)

By Charlie Wright

I'm backing Aaron Civale's strikeouts prop. He's not going to maintain the 32.8% strikeout rate from his past three starts, but the increased curveball usage should lead to more strikeout upside.

The matchup also sets up nicely as Cleveland's projected lineup includes seven hitters with strikeout rates above 22.5% vs. right-handed pitchers this season. More importantly, the Guardians could have eight lefties in the lineup and Civale has much better strikeout numbers against lefties — a 23.1% strikeout rate and a 27.9% called strikes plus whiffs percentage, compared to a 15% strikeout rate and a 24% CSW% against righties.

In case you're worried about trusting the projected lineup, I'll point out that Cleveland only has three right-handed hitters on the roster. Even if it somehow jammed all of them in the lineup (which wouldn't work defensively), we'd still get six lefties.

Pick: Aaron Civale Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+120)
