Padres, Rockies Pick & Betting Analysis

We're 3-for-3 on this prop. This is the best price we've gotten so far.

I know it's the Rockies, but this is still the lowest-strikeout pitcher in the league facing a lineup that can exploit his main weakness of lefties.

Vasquez boasts an 8.8% strikeout rate and a 16.2% walk rate. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a walk rate twice as high as a strikeout rate, but Vasquez is on his way there.

Among 124 pitchers with at least 30 innings pitched this season, Vasquez ranks dead last in K%, 121st in swinging-strike rate and 119th in CSW%. He also has the highest BB% in the group.

Lefties are slashing .284/.392/.388 against Vasquez. He has a grand total of two Ks in 79 plate appearances against them.

Colorado's projected lineup includes five left-handed hitters. The Rockies have the second-highest K% against righties this season. However, that number has fallen a bit over the past 30 days, and it's ticked down by about 1% at home.

They also have a strong 9.3% BB% vs. RHP at home this season.

San Diego had an off day on Thursday and got 6 2/3 innings out of Dylan Cease on Wednesday. The bullpen should be in a decent spot, so Vasquez will have a short leash here. Plus, he hasn't gone more than five innings since March.

Pick: Randy Vasquez Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Moneyline

I don't have a bet on either side in this game.

Run Line (Spread)

Like the moneyline, I'm staying away from both teams on the run line.

Over/Under

While I don't have a bet on the game over/under, I am taking the under on a player prop. I think Padres starter Randy Vasquez will struggle mightily to rack up strikeouts, so I'll bet him to stay under 3.5 Ks.
