Mariners vs Yankees MLB Betting Preview
The Mariners are a sinking ship. They have lost five straight games despite having a loaded offense on paper, one of baseball's best rotations, and a talented bullpen.
This roster should be considered a World Series contender, yet they sit at 56-64 with 42 games to go. Fortunately, their division is terrible.
Seattle sits 4.5 games behind the division-leading Houston Astros (61-60). Meanwhile, they are four games behind a Wild Card slot. This is just an odd year overall for the AL West.
The weirdest thing for Seattle has been Cal Raleigh's regression. Many expected a worse year than his 2025 runner-up MVP season, but few foresaw an egregious offensive season. His 68 wRC+ is a far cry from the 161 he posted in 2025.
The Mariners added Taylor Ward at the Trade Deadline to help the offense, but he has done the opposite thus far. Ward's -2 wRC+ through seven games is comical. He will, of course, improve, but this is the least hitter-friendly home park of his career thus far.
Maybe Ward and Raleigh wake up to get the offense going in the next few weeks, or maybe these horrendous trends continue.
The Yankees are patiently awaiting the return of Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger. Their offense is putrid since the All-Star break, but they did add reinforcements at the trade deadline.
Breakout 2B Luis Garcia Jr. and OF Heliot Ramos were added recently to boost the lineup. Neither has contributed significantly since the trade, but they are quality additions.
The main issue for the Yankees is their key veterans of late. Paul Goldschmidt, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Trent Grisham have cooled off. Ben Rice has not been as hot either, but he has done more than enough this season.
Luckily, the Yankees' pitching is good enough to win them games. Between Cy Young candidate Cam Schlittler, Max Fried, Ryan Weathers, and the return of good Gerrit Cole, games are kept close enough for the offense not to have to carry a load.
The bullpen is playing well too. This team is going to be a force in the postseason and should force a rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers late in October.

Mariners vs Yankees Pick, Betting Analysis
This pitching matchup between Bryce Miller (3.08 ERA) and Will Warren (4.18 ERA) is uneven on paper. Also, neither SP is getting too lucky or unlucky, according to peripheral metrics.
However, Miller is much worse on the road, while Warren is much better at home.
- Miller away: 4.02 ERA, .325 wOBA allowed, 17.9% K-BB, 1.14 WHIP, 3.95 xFIP
- Warren home: 3.88 ERA, .314 wOBA allowed, 23.9% K-BB, 1.26 WHIP, 2.77 xFIP
Not only is Warren better at home, but he is much better than Miller on the road. Miller is also a flyball pitcher who may struggle as a righty in Yankee Stadium.
Both offenses are scuttling in recent weeks. The Yankees' offense is one of the MLB's worst in the past 30 days. However, they just replaced Anthony Volpe with star prospect George Lombard Jr.
Lombard Jr. has two HR since being called up and has potentially sparked a dormant lineup missing Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger.
The Mariners' bullpen is fully available, but they have pitched more in recent games than the Yankees, and they also just lost key RP Gabe Speier for this series to a back injury.
