Despite not being in the same division, the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians are familiar foes. New York and Cleveland met in the postseason in 2022, 2020 and 2017 with the Yankees prevailing each time.

New York had a good deal of success against Cleveland during the regular season last year as it went 5-1 in those head-to-head matchups. However, that wasn't the case Monday night as the Yankees dropped the first game of the series in Cleveland, 3-2.

Will the Yankees get back in the win column on Tuesday or will the Guardians clinch a series victory?

The Parlay (+467):

  • Gerrit Cole Under 6.5 Strikeouts
  • Jose Ramirez 2+ Total Bases
  • Guardians +1.5

Same-Game Parlay – Yankees vs. Guardians

Gerrit Cole Under 6.5 Strikeouts

Cole is off to an incredible start with strikeouts. After two starts, he has a 42% strikeout percentage, which is both incredible and unsustainable. He's due to come back to the pack in regards to strikeouts.

In his first two starts, he faced the Giants and the Phillies, two teams in the top five across all of baseball in strikeout percentage. That's not the case in this game as the Guardians are striking out just 19% percent of the time this year after having the lowest strikeout percentage of any team last year.

I have Cole projected for just 5.5 strikeouts here, giving us value on this number.

Jose Ramirez 2+ Total Bases

Cole is one of the best pitchers in baseball, but if you're going to get to him it's usually with left-handed hitters. Last year, Cole allowed a .192 ISO to left-handed hitters compared to a .174 ISO against right-handed hitters. He also allowed a 50% fly ball percentage to left-handed hitters compared to just a 32% fly ball percentage against right-handed hitters.

Jose Ramirez isn't off to a great start in the power department this year as his ISO is just .136 after his first 53 plate appearances of the season. Still, Ramirez is the Guardians' best hitter and he's left-handed. Ramirez has a career .224 ISO and had a .255 ISO against right-handed pitching last year. Maybe he's due for an extra base hit here.

Guardians +1.5

The Yankees are the better team. New York has had postseason and regular season success against Cleveland in recent years. The Yankees have the starting pitching advantage with Cole.

Still, Cleveland is at home where it went 46-35 (.568 WP) last year. The Guardians also have a better bullpen than the Yankees, though, so the advantage flips to Cleveland if they can keep this one close in the first half of the game.

Taking Cleveland on the run line also means that they don't even have to win the game for us to cash the same game parlay.
