Battle-tested gatekeeper Angela Hill is 15 years the elder to her opponent Fatima Kline, on the UFC 322 prelims this Saturday. Kline is looking to prove she is a future contender by winning her third straight bout, while Hill is looking to prove she still has it at age 40. Despite some similarities between these two women, there is value in a specific betting angle heading into this matchup.

Oddsmakers are extremely high on the prospects of Kline, as they have been since she entered the UFC.
She was tasked in her organizational debut with facing Jasmine Jasudavicius up a weight class at flyweight on relatively short notice, yet was still lined near pick' em’ odds. Against Angela Hill, Kline is now hovering around -500, as she seems to be improving a well-rounded game around her grappling foundation.
Kline isn’t the most athletic woman, but she is effective at using the tools at her disposal. Watching the tape of these two women, I couldn’t help but notice some similarities in their fighting styles, even down to their usage of a front kick to the body that they often employ. Both unleash 1-2’s in succession, and like to counter with a jab as their opponent is coming into boxing range.
However, there is a size discrepancy that favors Kline, as she will enjoy a three-inch height and reach advantage. Despite training with Erin Blanchfield and possessing high-level grappling prowess, Kline seemed content keeping things standing when she was front-running as she did in her fight with Melissa Martinez.
In Hill’s most recent outing, she was out-landed 57-52 at distance against Iasmin Jucindo and was taken down three times. I wouldn’t go as far as to say Hill is starting to slow down in a significant manner, but oddsmakers are going to make you pay a tax on her opponents moving forward, considering she turns 41in a couple of months.
Given her strength of schedule throughout her career and general activity, it is very impressive that Hill hasn't been finished in more than seven years. Hill has been in the cage with some of the most dangerous women in the division, including the current champion Mackenzie Dern, as recently as 2023. I do not see Kline being the one to buck this trend, and I’d be quite surprised if she won by knockout or submission.

However, I do expect Kline to have a slight speed advantage and be one step ahead of Hill wherever the fight goes. Hill does not have the ability to bully Kline against the cage as Jasudavicius did in Kline’s lone MMA loss.
While this may be a closely contested bout, as most Hill fights have been, the ever-improving Kline will get her hand raised on the judges’ scorecards.
