Hornets vs Wizards Moneyline Pick

The Wizards will duke it out with the Hornets on Friday night at Capital One Arena in D.C. in what will be the second meeting of the season between the two Eastern Conference foes.

The Hornets prevailed by seven points in the first matchup, with Charlotte SF Brandon Miller putting on a show, nearly dropping 40 points in the process (39).

Despite Charlotte having previously reigned supreme, I expect the tides to turn on Friday night in what looks like another ideal revenge spot to target from a betting perspective.

Aside from the two squads swapping home court, the biggest difference between Friday’s contest and the first meeting is the return of rookie forward AJ Dybantsa, who was the number-one overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

The former BYU star played his first-ever NBA game on Wednesday night, scoring an impressive 19 points over 27 minutes on the floor.

Not only did Dybantsa convert 8 of his 12 field-goal attempts, but the former Cougar also boasts a phenomenal defensive skill set with elite length and physicality, which could give Miller far more resistance than he faced in the teams’ previous meeting.

In addition to AJ being inserted into the Wizards' lineup, new teammates Trae Young and Anthony Davis have been remarkable playing alongside one another.

The Hornets also enter Friday night’s contest ranked 29th in the league in ball security, collectively averaging 20 turnovers per game over the first five contests of the season.

The Wizards have an elite young core featuring the likes of Tre Johnson and Kyshawn George, both of whom I expect to play a massive role for Washington at both ends of the floor.

Given that the Hornets are still playing without both Coby White and Kon Knueppel, Miller’s excessive usage could negatively impact his defensive effort, which could be quite problematic when having to contain the likes of AD, Young, and Dybantsa, among several other versatile athletes.

I feel confident backing the Wizards to get revenge on Friday night, so I will be taking a shot on Washington at -118.

Pick: Wizards ML (-118)

Rockets vs Mavericks Moneyline Pick

The Rockets will put their unblemished 5-0 record this season on the line on Friday night as Ime Udoka’s bunch heads on the road to Dallas for its second matchup of the season against the Mavericks after prevailing by 18 points in the opener.

Houston enters Friday night’s contest as a 6.5-point road favorite, while the Mavericks are currently listed at +195 to pull off the outright upset.

There is no doubt that the Rockets are scorching right now, boasting the second-ranked offense in the entire league through the first five games of the season, with future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant and young center Alperen Sengun leading the charge for Houston’s core.

While the Rockets have recorded an extremely impressive average margin of victory exceeding 14 points this season, they have been relatively untested, with three of their victories coming against far inferior opponents in the Hawks and the Bucks.

Despite rolling over the Mavs just a week ago, Dallas was short-handed, missing its superstar PG Kyrie Irving, and I expect the Mavericks to be far more motivated to prevail in front of a home crowd at American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks dodged a massive bullet very early this season, with Cooper Flagg fortunately avoiding a serious injury. The former Duke Blue Devil has returned with a vengeance, averaging 27/9/6 in his two games since coming back.

In the opening-night blowout loss to Houston, the Mavs committed a whopping 21 turnovers that, in turn, led to the Rockets scoring 32 points in transition.

Dallas has secured an elite duo in Flagg and Irving, who are finally starting to click with one another and are blossoming into one of the best duos in the NBA.

I also expect Mavs forward Zaccharie Risacher to play a massive role on the defensive end of the floor, as he will undoubtedly be tasked with defending “KD,” who put up over 30 points in the teams’ prior matchup.

The former top overall NBA Draft selection is coming off a phenomenal defensive effort versus the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Dallas has a ton of betting value at +195 to reign supreme in a huge revenge spot, and I fully expect the Cooper and Kyrie duo to put on a show in an upset victory.

Pick: Mavericks ML (+195)
