How Sharps Are Betting Nuggets-Spurs on Monday Night

If you've happened upon one of these sharp reports in the past, there's a good chance you've heard me preach the idea that sharps don't bet games because of their excitement level. If a game has value, the pros will bet it, regardless of the matchup or the sport.

Of course, that doesn't mean they intentionally stay away from the most exciting games, either, as evidenced by their action on tonight's Nuggets-Spurs matchup.

As it stands now, that game is attracting a significantly higher number of bettors than any other on tonight's seven-game slate, and it's also drawing the most professional action of the bunch, specifically on the over/under.

Sharp angle: Over (moved from 228 to 230)

Neither the Nuggets nor the Spurs have been necessarily known for offense this year. They sit smack in the middle of the league at 15th and 16th, respectively, in average points per game, and between the two, they've had only 11 games with totals in the 230s this year.

But sharps are banking on these teams adding another high-scoring affair to the list.

Most bettors jumped on the under when it opened at 228, which is always noteworthy considering the public's general love for offense. But even with only 33% of bets landing on this over, that total is now up to 230 across most of the market. Some shops are even posting 230.5.

Why the reverse line movement?

The over has generated 65% of actual money being wagered on the total. Since sharp bettors are more likely to be betting more than the Average Joe, that substantial discrepancy serves as a strong indication that wiseguys are on the over.
