The Orlando Magic defense is quite simply not good right now. That is a very surprising fact when you think about where they have been defensively for so many years.
Even with a coaching change, the Magic are technically sitting 13th in schedule-adjusted defense, but if you watch the games, it certainly doesn’t feel like it.
However, Orlando does have a clear path to offensive success tonight. Schematically, the Magic have a huge advantage in terms of their guards and wings and where they generate offense from.
I also expect Wendell Carter Jr. to have a very good game inside against a Golden State frontcourt that can be exploited by size.

I know the Golden State Warriors are on a six-game winning streak, but I am just not buying it.
I do not buy that this Warriors squad is suddenly this unstoppable, inevitable team.
While I don't trust them as a juggernaut, I do think there is a very good chance they are going to put up a fairly healthy offensive number against this vulnerable Magic defense tonight.
The Warriors have the firepower to score, but they remain susceptible defensively, particularly to physical size and athletic wings, which Orlando has in spades.

I actually show some value on the Magic on the spread, but I am too much of a chicken to back them on the spread or the moneyline right now. Instead, I am looking strictly at the total.
The Magic's defense is leaking, and the Warriors' defense has notable structural vulnerabilities against Orlando's specific personnel.
When I run my projections using both last year's data and the early numbers from this year, this game projects to go significantly over the total.
I expect plenty of points in this matchup.
