Spurs vs Trail Blazers NBA Preview
I still believe the betting market is behind on how good the Spurs actually are because of their early-season struggles. Right now, San Antonio looks like the most complete basketball team in the NBA.
This is entirely a spot play for me. The Spurs will be the significantly more rested team in this matchup. However, you have to monitor the injury report.
If Victor Wembanyama plays, the Spurs will be in a prime position to cover this spread. If he is the only player ruled out, my number moves to Blazers +2.5, at which point I would just pivot to the Spurs moneyline.
The Portland Trail Blazers continue to be an absolutely awesome team and have been really impressive early on. However, they are stepping into a terrible situational spot tonight.
The Blazers are coming off a big primetime rematch against the Lakers last night — and regardless of the outcome of that basketball game (Portland lost 124-118), the Blazers will be tired coming into this back-to-back against the Spurs.
Fatigue will be a major factor for a Portland team that has to turn around immediately and deal with San Antonio's size and execution on short rest.
Spurs vs Trail Blazers Pick, Betting Analysis
There is no scenario where I am not betting the Spurs in this spot.
I am committed to San Antonio tonight; it is just a matter of waiting on the injury report to decide how to play it.
If Victor Wembanyama is active, I am laying the 4.5 points with the Spurs on the spread. If Wemby is ruled out, I will adjust and just play the San Antonio moneyline.
The rest advantage and San Antonio's overall completeness make them the clear side to target against a fatigued Portland squad.
Pick: Spurs -5.5 (-110)
